M perfection: winglets
Perfection is in the details. M winglets generate aerodynamic downforce to prevent high flyers from taking off. At a speed of 220 km/h, they increase the front-wheel load by 11 kg. Your benefit: maximum riding stability, a lower tendency for the front wheel to lift off the road surface as well as the possibility to brake later and accelerate earlier when cornering.
M experience: electronics
Fully fledged M experience: the 6.5-inch TFT display welcomes you to the exclusive circle of high-performance riders with M start-up animation. One of four screen variants appears automatically after having started up thanks to the memory function. Optimised for the race track in true M style: as part of the new flashing gearshift indicator, the entire rev counter flashes once the set speed has been reached.
M dominance: engine
Superbike engine perfected for a hyper roadster: the four-cylinder engine from the RR with BMW ShiftCam technology catapults you from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. With a maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm, the M R is clearly our most powerful roadster. From 10,000 rpm, you can consequently feel more torque and acceleration. In terms of its gear ratio, the M R has more to offer compared with the RR: 47 instead of 46 teeth in the secondary gear ratio and a shorter gear ratio in 4th, 5th and 6th gear - for performance-oriented riding along country roads. Shift assistant Pro enables fast upshifts and downshifts. The bike's rich sound originating from the titanium rear silencer impressively emphasises this.
M riding experience: chassis
Clear feedback and breathtaking target accuracy: the chassis with standard DDC as well as fully adjustable suspension elements, adjustable steering damper and milled handlebar clamp. For the M R, it was modified from the RR setup to match the demands of a dynamic roadster. New ergonomics and new handlebars ensure a seating position that is focussed on the front wheel.
M intelligence: assistants
Rather than doping: high levels of performance thanks to high-end assistants. Three accelerator characteristics, linked to the Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race and Race Pro riding modes, deliver optimum response characteristics. DTC ensures maximum safety and riding dynamics depending on the riding mode and Brake Slide Assist supports you in braking drifts when cornering.
Powerful M brake
Makes your overtaking manoeuvres accurately controllable: the M brake. Identifiable by excellent performance and the clear-cut, stable resistance point - and visually identifiable by the blue eloxal coating with M logo.
Striking handlebar end mirrors
Trigger a genuine desire to attack: the new handlebar end mirrors milled from aluminium, which you are familiar with as special accessories for the S 1000 R. On the M R, they provide the ultimate hyper roadster look as standard.

Short number plate carrier
More aggressive, shorter, more compact: the number plate carrier forms a visual unit with the turn indicator and number plate lights. The function of the brake light and rear light has been integrated into the turn indicator lights.

M start-up animation: the ultimate start signal for your adrenaline. Select your riding mode on the TFT display depending on the challenge: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race or Race Pro 1-3.
High-performance M R four-cylinder engine
Do you want to dominate the roads? The high-torque, four-cylinder engine with ShiftCam technology and 154 kW (210 hp) has been designed for this purpose: both for the race track and super-sporty use on country roads.
Lightweight M Carbon wheels with tape
Unmistakably a product of the M factory: optional M Carbon wheels with M Competition package tape design. Reduced rotating masses and 1.6 kg less weight improve handling and performance.
