Electric Fun on the Trails: My Ride Review of the 2025 SURRON Light Bee X

Review: 2025 Surron Light Bee X – Electric Thrills at Queensland Moto Park

If you're looking for a lightweight, high-torque electric dirt bike that blurs the line between mountain bike and motocross machine, the 2025 Surron Light Bee X might just be your new best mate. I recently took the MY25 model out to Queensland Moto Park, and let me tell you—it was an absolute blast.

My Personal Ride Impression

Right off the bat, the Light Bee X impresses with its aggressive yet compact design. The new lime green colorway is bold, and certainly stands out on the track. At just 50 kg, the bike feels solid yet nimble—easy to throw around, especially in tight corners and over jumps.

As someone who’s 186 cm tall, I found the Light Bee X a bit cramped. While it was a lot of fun to ride, I did knock my knees on the handlebars a few times, especially when sitting down in corners or shifting my weight forward aggressively. It’s definitely better suited for smaller riders or teenagers, though taller riders can still enjoy it with some cockpit tweaks.
I rode the bike on a small MX track with modest jumps, and it was a blast. I wouldn’t take it onto the bigger tracks, though—I feel it wouldn’t cope with my height and weight very well. That said, I managed to get a bit of airtime, and the suspension handled it surprisingly well. It didn’t bottom out on the harder landings, but to be fair, I wasn’t hitting anything too extreme.
The MY25 model delivers a peak output of 8kW, which translates to instant torque and a top speed of around 75 km/h. Acceleration is snappy—it definitely feels quick when you twist the throttle in Sport mode.

At QMP, the Light Bee X handled the smaller track’s features with ease, from loose gravel to tight corners. The 200mm adjustable suspension soaked up the bumps effortlessly, while the 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes and 203mm rotors gave me the confidence to brake later and push harder into corners.

Build quality

The build quality and finishes were also really good—relatively close to what you’d expect from full-size Japanese or European manufacturers, which is saying a lot for a bike in this price range.

Battery Life

I was impressed with the battery life. It lasted a big portion of the day when the bike was kept in Eco mode. However, when switched to Sport mode, the range dropped noticeably faster. Still, for a few solid hours of riding, it held up well. (+-3hours)

Charging Experience

Charging the Light Bee X is straightforward. The removable battery makes it easy to swap out, and I’d say a second battery is a must if you’re planning to spend a full day at the MX track. While you’re riding, you can have the spare charging—definitely a great way to prolong the fun.

Comparison to Petrol Bikes

It’s hard to compare the Light Bee X directly to a full-size petrol dirt bike. It sits somewhere between a mountain bike and a 125cc dirt bike. The instant torque from the electric motor is addictive, and the quiet motor is a huge plus—especially if you’re riding in areas with noise restrictions.

Mod Potential

There’s a huge aftermarket scene for the Light Bee X. If I were to ride one regularly, I’d definitely look into upgrading the suspension, controller, and a few other components to better suit my size and riding style. The platform is highly customizable, which is a big part of its appeal.

Final Thoughts

The 2025 Surron Light Bee X is a serious contender in the electric dirt bike space. Whether you're a weekend warrior or just want a fun, low-maintenance ride for the trails or track, this bike delivers. At around $7499 AUD, it’s also competitive with any competition out there.
