Yamaha WR450F for Sale at TeamMoto in QLD, NSW, VIC and ACT | Review Specifications & Information

The 2024 WR450F is based on the latest successful YZ450F MX machine – the model that has been winning around the globe with riders like Eli Tomac and Dean Ferris on board. In line with recent changes made to the MX model, the new WRF is now slimmer, lighter, lower and more tractable than before with longer, stronger pulling power.

But that’s not all - significant adjustments have been made to the entire machine to produce power delivery, handling and suspension that are unique to this model and developed specifically for riding in the bush.

The result is an enduro weapon that’s easy to ride fast, extremely capable in technical situations and more versatile than ever. Truly the master of all trades.

2023 Yamaha WR450F

The new 2024 WR450F's advanced four-stroke engine has been completely redesigned to be lighter, more compact, higher revving and more powerful across the entire rev range. Among the changes are new exhaust and intake port shapes, larger diameter titanium intake valves, new piston, cylinder, crankshaft and balancer assembly, and a switch from wet sump to dry sump lubrication. Additionally, ECU settings are tailored to suit the specific needs of trail riding and enduro competition.

Yamaha WR450F Smartphone Tuning

The free-of-charge Yamaha Power Tuner App brings the power of the GYTR® Power Tuner to an iOS® or Android® device, allowing owners to adjust air/fuel mixture and ignition timing, log race set-up information, and monitor a range of data such as maintenance and system diagnosis, engine run time, and more. The newest version of the app has been revised to be more user-friendly, with new features include an intuitive Simple Tuning slide bar for engine mapping, Traction Control tuning, lap timer, and helpful engine and suspension tuning guides.

Yamaha WR450F On-the-fly engine mapping selection

New, lightweight handlebar-mounted switchgear allows the rider to quickly select between preloaded engine maps - loaded and configured in the Power Tuner App - to adjust for changing riding conditions. Map 1 provides more responsive, quicker revving engine characteristics while Map 2 provides smoother response and slower revving characteristics for when traction is limited.

Yamaha WR450F New Aluminium Frame

The new cylinder head weighs 310g less than before and is significantly more compact. Because this innovative design is positioned close to the bike's mid-section it helps to achieve an idealised mass centralisation, and this contributes enormously towards the WR450F's dynamic handling characteristics. The intake/exhaust valve angles and intake port design are changed and a new piston with a small recess is specified to create a more concave combustion chamber for increased power. This new high-efficiency head with its long and straight inlet, produces a fine balance of power with exceptional controllability.

Yamaha WR450F Electric Starter System

The WR450F features a compact electric starter system to minimise restart delays in competition and add convenience everywhere else. Powered by a high-capacity and lightweight four-cell lithium-ion battery, the system adds consistent performance and minimal weight.

Yamaha WR450F Improved Ergos

A new slimmer, flatter and more compact body eases rider movement for improved control, including more seamless, rounded seat edges, revised side covers and narrower front shrouds. The rider triangle is also improved with increased legroom between the seat and footpegs for enhanced rider comfort.

Yamaha WR450F Wide Ratio 5 Speed Transmission

All new tri-shaft transmission layout vertically stacks the transmission shafts, raising the center shaft and forming a triangle between the crank, drive shaft and main shaft for a lighter, more compact transmission. Gear ratios are optimised for enduro conditions.

Yamaha WR450F Rider Convenience

A key feature of the WR450F is its mass centralised design, in which major components are located as close to the bike's centre of gravity as possible. One example of this is the wraparound exhaust that snakes around the cylinder - this design also enables the fitment of a muffler that is mounted close to the bike's centre. The WR450F runs a YZ450F exhaust with WRF specific muffler to achieve the goal of increased power with control. Combined with the rearward-slanted cylinder, the exhaust centralises mass and contributes significantly towards lightweight and dynamic handling performance.

Yamaha WR450F Industry-Leading Suspension

The WR450F is equipped with fully adjustable coil spring twin chamber KYB® forks from the YZ450F that are widely regarded as being the ultimate in off-road suspension. Featuring enduro settings and speed sensitive damping that gives the idealised balance between handling and bump absorption, these exceptional front forks deliver best-in-class performance. The fully-adjustable link-type rear end settings are aslo revised to match the new frame and front end. The setup features a specially tuned KYB® shock absorber that delivers high levels of traction together with smooth suspension action at low and high speeds, giving exceptional handling in a range of track conditions.

Yamaha WR450F High Performance Braking

A large 270mm front brake disc and 240mm rear are coupled with high performance Nissin caliper and aggressive pad material to provide exceptional stopping power and control.

2023 Yamaha WR250F

A slimmer and more compact multifunction display is specified for the WR450F. The display features an odometer, two tripmeters, a clock, timer/stopwatch and a new and very useful fuel consumption indicator, while low fuel and engine warning lights are now built into the display. This increases their visibility and makes for a neater area around the instruments. The layout of the display has also been redesigned, with a higher-contrast liquid crystal display and white background ensuring improved readability.
