Absolute Performance
The high-performance 999cm3 four-stroke DOHC liquid-cooled inline-four engine that powers the GSX-S1000 inherits true winning superbike DNA. This street-tuned engine is based on core architecture that benefits from know-how acquired over decades of developing the GSX-R1000 to win countless production race victories, while also incorporating advanced technologies developed for MotoGP racing.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)
SDMS is designed to offer the rider a choice between three different modes that change output characteristics to match riding conditions or preferences. Mode A (Active) provides the sharpest response as the rider opens the throttle. Settings for torque characteristics are finely tuned to deliver the exciting acceleration that had earned the previous generation GSX-S1000 high acclaim. It is well suited for use when hitting the throttle hard, such as when participating in track day events or enjoying a sporty run on winding roads in good weather. Mode B (Basic) reaches the same level of maximum output but features a softer response and a more linear power delivery curve as the rider opens the throttle. The settings are tuned to make the bike more controllable and instil confidence when accelerating, and make it a good fit for a wide range of rider styles and road conditions in everyday riding. Mode C (Comfort) provides the softest throttle response and more gentle torque characteristics, delivering power in a smoother linear fashion while still reaching the same level of maximum power output. The gentler throttle response and limited torque production as the throttle is opened make it more obedient and controllable when riding on wet or otherwise slippery surfaces, when road conditions are bad, or even when the rider wants to relax and enjoy a ride home after a long outing.
Engine
Every aspect of the high-performance 999cm3 four-stroke DOHC liquid-cooled inline-four engine underwent thorough review as it was developed to deliver ideal naked sport bike performance under varying riding conditions, whether out for a sporty run or negotiating traffic on city streets.
Changes that include a new camshaft profile, new valve springs, a new clutch and new exhaust system increase power output and achieve an overall better balance of performance, all while satisfying Euro 5 emissions standards.
Another development goal was to further enhance the durability of an already highly durable engine design. Attention to detail extends to a change from cut threads to rolled threads for the holes in the upper crankcase cover. Rolled threads are harder and less prone to cracking from wear, so help maximise holding strength for the journal bolts that support the crank.
Engineered for excitement
Every aspect of the chassis reflects engineering focused on delivering great handling and control, whether riding on city streets, negotiating twisty mountain roads, or taking the GSX-S1000 out to participate in a track day event.
The chassis features a compact, lightweight package that makes the GSX-S1000 surprisingly agile, predictable and well behaved for a high-performance, large-displacement sports bike. Its twin-spar aluminium frame helps deliver nimble handling and great road holding ability, while its straight main tubes are ideal for achieving high rigidity and low weight. All this connects to a ruggedly braced aluminium-alloy swingarm that further contributes to the road gripping character that lets you ride with confidence.
Greater Comfort and Control
New tapered handlebars are 23mm wider than those on the previous model, the bars have also been rotated upward slightly to raise the grip position.
This new design brings the grips closer to the rider contributing to a more upright riding position. The wider grip and closer positioning enables the rider to steer the front end with less effort, enhancing controllability and reducing rider fatigue.
Additionally, the slim bodywork and slim knee-grip area combined with the low 810mm seat height helps the rider put their feet down easily.
Superior Braking
The GSX-S1000 is equipped with top-of-the-line radial-mount Brembo monobloc calipers. The calipers each have four opposed ø32mm pistons acting on a ø310mm floating-mount disc for strong stopping power.
An antilock braking system (ABS) helps the rider stay in directional control even during hard braking. The system is programmed to monitor wheel speed and match stopping power to the available traction. The ABS control unit has a compact, lightweight design that contributes to the bike's nimbleness.
Performance-tuned Suspension
The ø43mm KYB inverted front forks feature 120mm of travel with fully adjustable damping, rebound, compression and spring pre-load settings.
The link-type rear suspension boasts 130mm of rear wheel travel with adjustable rebound damping and spring pre-load settings that react efficiently to varying road surfaces to maintain an agile and stable feel.
The suspension settings were thoroughly tested and tuned to optimise to suit the new Dunlop SPORTMAX 2 tyres achieving nimbler handling and improved steering into corners.
Multi-function Colour TFT Instrumentation
New for MY25 onwards, the instrument panel packs all required information onto a compact, full colour TFT screen using a clean and intuitive layout with information displayed in order of priority.
The panel's TFT readouts include the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, dual trip meter (A, B), gear position, water temperature, riding range, lap time mode, average fuel consumption, instant fuel consumption, Traction Control mode, SDMS mode, Quick Shift (ON/OFF), fuel gauge, clock, battery voltage, RPM indicator and service reminder. LED indicators surrounding the panel include those for the turn signals, high beam, neutral, malfunction, master warning, ABS, traction control system, low voltage warning, coolant temperature and oil pressure warnings.
