The 2027 Kawasaki KX250FX takes cross-country racing to a new level, powered by a 249 cc 4-stroke engine with dual injectors and electric start that gains stronger power across the rev range, an improved hydraulic clutch with 15% more spring load, and a new short-type silencer that's 50 mm shorter and 230 g lighter for better mass centralisation. It runs a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame with a Showa 49 mm inverted coil-spring fork (305 mm travel) and New Uni-Trak rear suspension with a Showa shock (307 mm travel), tuned with cross-country-specific spring rates and damping for extra feedback on technical trails, plus semi-floating 270 mm front and 240 mm rear petal disc brakes. Cross-country-specific hardware includes 21"/18" wheels with Dunlop AT81 enduro tyres, a sealed chain, rear brake disc guard, and side stand, while rider tech spans two power modes, Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), Launch Control Mode, and smartphone connectivity via RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX — rounded out by ERGO-FIT adjustable ergonomics, ODI Lock-On grips, and front/rear accessory power connectors, at a 945 mm seat height and 110.6 kg curb weight.
The KX250FX engine retains the elements that made it such a strong performer: finger-follower valve actuation, intake and exhaust layout optimised for efficient flow, dual injectors, and a single-shaft primary balancer—elements that together deliver strong, controllable power. Further refinements for 2027 result in increased output, more linear throttle response, and more efficient power transfer, contributing to an overall boost in race-ready performance on the track.
FACTORY-STYLE CHASSIS COMPONENTS AND TUNING
Enhanced Stability
While retaining the previous model’s light, agile handling character, the KX250FX cross-country racer receives chassis updates that add to its composed behaviour. Central to these updates are revised front and rear suspension settings, which offer increased ground-holding performance, particularly on challenging surfaces. A more compact silencer, used on non-North American models, contributes to reduced weight and mass centralisation, offering chassis characteristics that allow riders to make full use of the improved power feeling.
CROSS-COUNTRY COMPONENTS AND TUNING
Optimised Performance
Cross-country-specific tuning for the suspension, complemented by a 21”/18” wheel combination fitted with enduro-type tyres, and convenient standard features like a side stand make the new KX250FX even more attractive for cross-country competitors.
