889CC CP3 ENGINE

The remarkable, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder engine is light and powerful, offering high torque at low rpm. The acoustic harmony which results from a combination of the induction sound and exhaust note gives the CP3 its recognisable roar, which heightens the feeling of acceleration. The fuel injectors give increased efficiency, while optimised gear ratios and a refined A&S (assist and slipper) clutch match the high output of the engine.

DIE-CAST ALUMINIUM DELTABOX

The compact CF (controlled filling) die-cast aluminium frame design is a modern take on the iconic Deltabox layout, providing a high level of chassis stiffness for excellent rider feedback and stability. Its optimised swingarm pivot structure, light and slim chassis give a more laidback feel making the MT-09 a perfect partner for both short and long rides.

Yamaha MT-09 - Feature - Jan 2025

6-AXIS IMU

Developed from the R1, the compact six-axis IMU controls the MT-09's high-tech rider aids including a three-mode Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS), front wheel Lift Control System (LIF) and Brake Control System. This best-in-class technology now features a Back Slip Regulator (BSR), which offers stabilisation when the rear wheel locks under excessive braking by controlling the level of torque produced.

Full colour 5-inch TFT instruments provide an option of four different themes to suit your individual requirements and riding situation, which you can scroll through using the all-new handlebar switches. You can also link your smartphone to the new TFT screen via the free Y-Connect app to receive message notifications, calls and listen to music*. Full map navigation is also available through the free Garmin StreetCross app to make each journey easier.

LED PROJECTOR LIGHTING

The full LED headlight assembly features a single central bifunctional projector headlight with multiple LEDs that provide a broad, even and powerful beam with soft edges for both low and high beam settings. Twin LED position lights present a bold new face for the MT-09, and they project a signature Y-shape icon to give the bike a predatory stare that represents the future direction of MT design.

CRUISE CONTROL

To express the outstanding handling performance of the MT-09, Yamaha has introduced a coverless design where all unnecessary bodywork is removed to give a dynamic and agile look from every angle. The compact front fender and minimalist headlamp nacelle are the only other pieces of bodywork on this muscular naked chassis, highlighting the beautifully styled chassis and giving the bike a strong, purposeful and mechanically pure look, all of which is accentuated by the Crystal Graphite frame colour.

Acoustic Amplifier Grilles

The grin-inducing roar of the MT-09 is one of its most defining characteristics, evoking a sense of pure adrenaline with every twist of the throttle. The MT-09 features specifically designed air-intake ducts which accentuate the high frequency sounds, which are then emphasised, especially at higher speed, by an acoustic amplifier grille on top of the fuel tank, delivering the CP3's vibrant note directly to you.

NEW SWITCHGEAR

Integrated new handlebar switch assemblies enable operation of the MT-09's wider range of functions, including smartphone connectivity, navigation and riding modes as well as exploring further menu options. Intuitive new turn signal functions further enhance the riding experience. A soft click of the indicator switch will flash the turn signals three times for use when changing lanes, while a full click makes them flash continuously. The turn signals will also self-cancel once 15 seconds have passed and the bike has travelled for more than 150 meters. New Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS) will also engage the hazard lights when the system detects sudden braking.

REFINED ERGONOMICS

The MT-09 is renowned for its agility and stability and this is enhanced by refined ergonomics, allowing the rider to feel at one with the machine by offering greater freedom of movement for different riding styles. In order to achieve this, the handlebar position is now lower and features two customisable positions, while the newly designed footrests are also adjustable. A new two-part seat further amplifies the feeling of freedom while riding.

Yamaha MT-09 - Feature - Jan 2025

ADJUSTABLE SUSPENSION

Fully adjustable 41mm front forks run with optimised settings that match the character of the compact, high-rigidity frame, achieving excellent stability and offering a smoother and more controlled ride. The adjustable rear suspension features multiple settings, as well as a revised linkage to allow for a more dynamic feeling in cornering. New Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S23 M tyres fitted on Yamaha's SpinForged wheels offer high grip and lighter handling, ensuring you can get the most from the torque-packed acceleration.

Yamaha MT-09 - Feature - Jan 2025

BREMBO MASTER CYLINDER

In order to match the MT-09's high torque and acceleration, excellent stopping power is provided by a Brembo radial master cylinder, which produces a linear supply of pressure to the four-piston calipers, mounted to the dual 298mm front discs and offering outstanding braking performance with finger-tip control.

Yamaha MT-09 - Feature - Jan 2025

THIRD GEN QUICK SHIFT SYSTEM

For ultimate acceleration the MT-09 gets a Quick Shift System (QSS) that ensures seamless and clutchless full-throttle upshifts and smooth downshifts. Together with the A&S clutch, this electronic aid transforms the riding experience and enables the rider to optimise the increased torque levels for more thrilling acceleration as well as higher levels of chassis stability and control when downshifting.

Yamaha MT-09 - Feature - Jan 2025

CUSTOMISABLE RIDE MODES

Customise your riding experience via the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) settings, which allow you to select engine power characteristics and the level of electronic intervention to suit your preferences and road conditions. Three integrated riding modes are programmed with factory settings to suit different situations: SPORT, STREET and RAIN; but you can also create two custom programmes to suit your individual preferences. The YRC settings can be customised directly in the dashboard menu or on your smartphone via the Y-Connect app.
